CATEGORIES


MARINE RESERVE


The winner of the Marine Reserve category receives a prize of a $250 for the purchase of an Ikelite photographic product from Seatech. They will also be the holder of the NZUA Photography Fish Study Trophy for the year.
Photos must be taken underwater in a New Zealand Marine Reserve and the name of the reserve included in the comments

MACRO


The winner of the Macro category receives a prize of a $250 for the purchase of an Ikelite photographic product from Seatech. They will also be the holder of the St George Trophy for best close up image for the year.
Photos taken underwater with the subject less than 600mm from the lens on close-up or Macro

OPEN


The winner of the Open category receives a prize of a pair of Esclapez fins from Wettie. They will also be the holder of the NZUA Divers Study Mt Maunganui trophy.
All entries must still be taken underwater or partially underwater

COMPETITION RULES


· The competition closes on April the 14th 2010 with the prize giving at the NZU AGM dinner hosted by the Mount Maunganui Underwater Club on Saturday the 12th of June 2010.
· All entrants must be resident in New Zealand
· All entries must be taken by the entrant in New Zealand waters by amateur photographers.
· Amateur photographers, for the purpose of this competition, shall be anyone who does not earn the bulk of their income from photography
· Images should be in good taste with respect for the environment (no harming of wildlife).
· Images must be taken underwater (either fully or at least partially submerged) with a digital or film camera. Entries taken with a film camera are to be scanned and submitted via the website
· Images will remain the property of the entrant. NZU reserves the right to use images for publication purposes and to promote future competitions.
· Your images may be edited to improve them to enhance the image. Any editing should be noted in the comments.
· Uploaded photos should be of highest quality 640 pixels in the longest dimension. Larger images will be resized and we recommend keeping file sizes less than 1.5MB to reduce problems when uploading. For winning images we may request a higher quality version for print.
